Back in the times when festivals and concerts with huge crowds of peoples were still a thing, I went to the Pangea festival. It’s a music / sports / culture festival, with workshops during the day and music in the evenings. The organisers went out of their way to create a beautiful and atmospheric festival area including a water park at the beach.
Arriving at the former airfield felt like entering a magical world. We walked around the lovingly designed festival locations through foggy woods and between colourful lights. Everyone was dressing up, dancing and just enjoying themselves. We spent our time trying to longboarding, skateboarding, slacklining, wakeboarding, swimming and exploring the festival area.
As cameras with bigger lenses weren’t allowed and the camera was also constantly in danger of getting wet, I only brought a waterproof Olympus TG4, which did a great job. It also stores raw images for more flexibility. In order to give them a more vibrant, film-like look, I processed all photos using Agfa Vista filters from VSCO.
Unfortunatly, the Pangea Festival 2020 had to be cancelled due to the Corona virus. With vaccinations going strong and some regulations already lifted, it seems like there is a good chance of it taking place this year. Considering there will still have to be hygiene and distancing rules in place, it might not be the same. But I’ve been really missing getting out and going to concerts.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a safe Pangea 2021!
